The flagship of Ktima-Kir-Yianni, Diaporos, the dry red, marked a great score which was published in the 242nd issue of Wine Advocate, at the end of April 2019.
Mark Squires, journalist at Robert Parker, rated the 2016 Diaporos with 94/100. As he notes, “it is this wine’s expressive fruit, beautiful finesse and long finish that are the most impressive features”.
The grapes of Diaporos, 87% Xinomavro and 13% Syrah, are sourced from the block #5 which lies at 280m of altitude at the highest hill of the Estate. The block #5 is the best of the estate because of its intense inclination (15%) and its southeast exposure, while the soil is sandy clay with calcium carbonate.
The Xinomavro that is used for Diaporos, was planted in 1972 by Yiannis Boutaris. Diaporos is considered one of the best greek red wines with various awards and reviews on its record.
