Besides its rich cultural heritage, Northern Greece is known for its wealth of local products and regional wines of exceptional quality.
“Voroina” fair that is held in Athens on January 30, is an annual event dedicated to St. Tryphon, patron saint of winegrowers. It is this period of the year that the new vintage of whites is launched.
The vineyards of Northern Greece play the leading part at the “VorOina” organized by the association of wine producers “Wines of Northern Greece” for the last 12 years.
The fair comprises of a series of wine and gastronomic events that will take place for over a period of ten days, from January 19th to January 29th in selected spots around the city of Athens. Locals and visitors will discover the wines of Northern Greece during introductory evenings with wine producers and their products, presentations and seminars, while restaurants, wine bars and wine shops will promote the North Greece wine through thematic nights and special menus, designed for that purpose.
