Greek wine is one of the most dynamic in the world and the country’s indigenous grape varieties are becoming increasingly attractive.
The positive response is reflected in the awards that Greek wines gain at international wine contests and tastings. International media seem to have discovered the charm of Greek wine and feature Greek varieties and wines on a regular basis.
The first five months of 2016 has given Kir-Yianni 29 awards in international competitions. These awards show the family’s faith and bond with Xinomavro, since most of the awards were gained by 100% varietal wines (Xinomavro) or its blends.
Xinomavro will never stop fascinating! Kir-Yianni Ramnista 2012, 100% Xinomavro and one of the best expressions of this variety, stands out with most of the awards:
Best Indigenous Red Wine at the Balkan International Wine Competition, Award of Excellence* in TEXSOM contest, Silver Award in the Decanter World Wine Awards, Silver award in the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC), Silver Medal in Sélections Mondiales des Vins Canada, Silver prize in the Thessaloniki International Wine Competition.
